The unit indicates whether the engine room is attended or unattended. A wanted change of responsibility may be signalled from the bridge change unit KRE-1 or from the engine room.
However, the change of responsibility can only take place in the engine room. When the position of the responsibility selector, placed in the engine room, is changed, a signal is transmitted to the change nit KRE-1 on the bridge and triggers the buzzer and the change indication lamp. At the same time the lamps on the responsibility indication unit KEF-1 extinguishes.
When the change in responsibility is accepted on the bridge (KRE-1 unit), the new status of responsibility is indicated on the KRF-1 unit. The buzzer and the change indication lamp in the engine room is reset.
